Improving the consumer experience in retail: Bringing Big Data to Small Users

The 'Bringing Big Data to Small Users' (#BDSU) project was a collaborative initiative focused on providing data-driven tools for revitalising town and city centres. It addresses the challenges posed by evolving retail trends, especially the growth of online shopping. By analysing footfall data and other factors, #BDSU created forecasting tools to empower policymakers, retailers, and local partnerships to make informed decisions about the future of these centres. This project builds upon previous research, identifying key elements influencing town centre vitality and tailoring strategies to the unique characteristics of different locations. The main outcome of this research was the identification of new town types derived from analysis of how footfall is distributed over a typical year in a town centre.
